What was the challenge?

In a world where sustainability is a top priority, large breweries shipping their beers all over the world leaves something of a bad taste in the mouth.

We set out to provide a viable alternative. How? By reimagining the supply chain system with a new product concept that was designed to keep things local.

What was our thinking?

The best, and most sustainable way to drink beer is by heading straight to your nearest brewery to enjoy it fresh from the tap.

This isn’t always practical, but it did set us thinking. The UK has loads of microbreweries producing a wide variety of great beers that are relatively untapped. Could we find a lucrative new way to market for these small businesses?

What did we do?

With our sustainability partners, Anthesis, we created Your Round, a circular subscription concept for beer.

Our idea made it easier for drinkers to enjoy superb ale and for local breweries to make money; all in a more environmentally-friendly way.

Using the Your Round app, local fresh beer can be ordered, delivered to your door, stored in the fridge, poured by your own draught smart-tap, and enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. Once empty, containers are picked up, cleaned, and dispatched to breweries ready to be refilled for the next order.

What did we achieve?

Your Round is great news for beer drinkers, microbreweries and the planet.

The concept successfully challenged the existing global supply chain paradigm of the beer industry and offered a more sustainable alternative. A perfect example of how to create a new retail channel to support small businesses.

Beer drinkers and local breweries weren’t the only ones who loved the idea. The jury at Pentawards awarded the concept Gold in the Sustainability category. We’ll drink to that!
